International Secondary Program

Dear ISP Students,

welcome to the International Secondary Program (ISP) for the academic year 2015 – 2016.

If you are joining the Program in grade 9, then you we would like to give you a special welcoming, and assure you that the learning opportunities are in abundance in ISP as we will be implementing the new ISP curriculum starting grade nine this year. We encourage you to make use of these four years in the Program to seek all of these learning opportunities that will extensively develop your learning. If you are a returning student, we would like to welcome you back, and hope that the changes you will encounter in the Program will be to your own benefit in your college ambitions and career choices. A special welcome goes to the new students at DAS; we trust that you will find a uniquely welcoming, supportive and caring learning environment.

You will receive a package that includes a ‘Student Handbook’ that is intended to help you find your way in the new path at the ISP. This Handbook includes a lot of information that answers many of your questions. You are fully responsible of reading and understanding this Handbook thoroughly: It is assumed that you have read, understood and agreed on all the information in the Handbook, and accordingly, you are held accountable and fully responsible of the content of this Handbook. We encourage you to use this Handbook as a reference in the ISP at all times.

The new ISP has many features that are intended to help you develop both general and specialized knowledge in areas that are of interest to you. In every grade level of the four grade levels of the ISP, all students will have the opportunity to choose one elective course from a pool of elective courses. Please make sure to make use of this to option and enrich your intellectual capacities and skills. Furthermore, the ISP students will start working on their Senior Project from grade 11 over a period of two years. This represents a unique opportunity for all of you to choose and work on a topic of your own interest and study this topic in rigorous depth, and thus developing many life-long learning skills. We will leave you to discover the rest of the elements of the ISP on your own by reading, understanding and committing to the ISP Handbook.

Once again, we would like to welcome you, and wish you all the best in your studies at the ISP, and all your future endeavors.
